On Ancient Kingdoms and Past Dynasties I: Ancient Cadarnle, a scroll by Unknown. Translated and paraphrased into Modern Eirish

A scroll recovered by Ezio during his travels in the lands of Cadarnle, it contains text written in Old Eirish, a language that has not been used in 400 years. With the help of the old wizard, the text was translated.

The scroll is not a perfect copy as it had words that were faded. Some entries were also censored, one being impossible to read as it has been mostly blacked out.

Modern Eirish Translation[]

To my dismay, the background of the author remains unknown. Through researching regarding this scroll, I have found other texts related to the civilization described below. I have translated the text as best I could with the resources I had at my disposal. - Ezio

The translated text on a new piece of parchment reads:

The author wishes it to be known that the information written on this scroll is gathered from anecdotes and roughly translated texts, much of what we know of the Cadarnle Elves may be false or misunderstood.

Long ago before the time of the human nations, there was Ancient Cadarnle. A kingdom of Elves that was lost time, having left almost no trace of their existence, once prospered in the area of Cadarnle. It is speculated that this civilization was an advanced species, having access to technologies far more advanced than what we use in the present. Their culture was unlike any of the distinct races on Everthorn, these Elves had accomplished colossal milestones since the advent of their civilization. Such supposed milestones include ------ *The text here were faded, impossible to read and translate*

Technology

Huge towers that pierced the clouds, bustling metropolises that spread out across the region, machinery so advanced they manipulated --------, and weapons so powerful that they could wipe out even the largest armies put together by today’s nations. Many of these technologies seem almost mythical and unnatural to what we humans know of.

Culture

The Elves seemed to have rather comfortable lifestyles. Their advanced techniques in production allowed a constant flow of goods and necessities for the Elves, because of this, there were no shortages of resources in their kingdom. This would have then suggested the Elves were socialist in nature, striving to progress as a species rather than as a tribe or group. These Elven folk worked tirelessly in order to better as a kingdom, as such, this civilization valued discipline, loyalty, and -----.  They did not see themselves as different from one another, but rather as a collective species whose purpose is to thrive. This is a vast contrast to humans, who are tribalistic and go out of their way to eliminate those they deem different to them.

Monarchy

There has only been one dynasty that had reigned over Ancient Cadarnle. Tracing around -- generations of this royal bloodline. The Elves saw the Odastan Dynasty as god-kings. The members of this family are revered and worshiped throughout most of the history of this civilization.

Religion

Much of their religion was centered around the Odastan Dynasty. Past kings and queens take their place on the Odastan Pantheon, the gods they believed in. Little is known about their religious practices, but it’s suggested they had places deemed as sacred ground for worshiping the Odastans.

Arcane Affinity

As they are Elves, these creatures were naturally attuned to the art of magic and arcane, having extensive knowledge of the secrets of these forces. It’s assumed that many of the Elven feats would not have been possible if not for their extraordinary abilities in the arcane.

Some of their abilities included:

Legacy

Their civilization was wiped out by the -------. As of the writing of this scroll, very little remnants of the Elven civilization has been found. The relics left behind however are futuristic in nature, seemingly impossible to comprehend and unable to be interacted with. It would seem many of these technologies are depleted of energy.

Elves are no longer present in the area of Cadarnle, and it is likely that if there are pockets of Elven civilization elsewhere, they may have descended from this precursor civilization.
