Everthorn - the official journal [Vol 1; Issue 2][]
Greetings, fellow dwellers of Everthorn!
As the new year approaches, we at the Everthorn journal are excited to present to you our special edition: "Celebrating memories". In this issue, we will be looking back at the highlights of the outgoing year and reminiscing about the past. We will also be making predictions for what the future holds for our beloved community.
We encourage you to delve deeper into this issue and discover all that it has to offer. From heartfelt messages from your fellow dwellers to the exiting news form the Everthorn Council, this issue has something for everyone. So sit back, relax, and let us take you on a journey through time as we celebrate the passing of another year in Everthorn.
As we look back on the outgoing year, it's clear that Everthorn: Otherside, announced on the third anniversary of Everthorn, was a defining moment for our community. The decision to reset the world was not taken lightly, and saying goodbye to the old world was not easy. However, the promise of a fresh start and the opportunity to shape the world to our liking was too tempting to pass up.
The community was given the chance to vote on the new map that would serve as the foundation for the coming years, and the voting process was intense as each option had its own unique features and appealed to different groups of players. In the end, Candidate 11 emerged as the winner, with its diverse array of biomes.
The transition from Minecraft Realms to our own server was also a significant milestone, and it was made possible thanks to the technological genius of Pavel and the constant financial support from our dedicated donors and Patreon supporters. Despite the challenges, the transition has given us more control over our own destiny and the ability to shape the direction of Everthorn for years to come.
Talking about other events of the passing year, we had our first ever special event (with modified game rules) held on Halloween, known as the Night of the Dead. This event was a thrilling challenge for all the brave dwellers who participated, as they had to fight countless mobs to earn pumpkins, which could then be exchanged for diamonds. It was a long memorable night (quite literally) for all who took part, and we hope to see more events like this in the future.
And another event worth mentioning is the recent Secret Santa event, which was a huge success, with a record number of participants joining in the festive fun. The community came together to exchange gifts and spread holiday cheer, with many players going above and beyond to make sure everyone received a thoughtful and meaningful present. The Christmas tree at spawn was also a hit, with players gathering around to admire the twinkling lights and festive decorations. All in all, it was a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season and show our gratitude to each other.
And now lets talk about the appearance of scaffoldings around the Monolith. In the previous issue we mentioned a rumour that the Everthorn Council was planning some sort of arcane ritual involving the ancient structure. It turns out, the rumour was not too far from the truth.
In fact, the Everthorn Council, in conjunction with Pav, has decided to announce the first expansion of our world that would happen January 1st, 2023. The scaffoldings were necessary for the upgrade and strengthening of the Monolith, which would soon provide us with a greater safety radius. While details of the expansion are still being kept under wraps, we can't wait to see what it brings for Everthorn in the upcoming year.
Moving on to the net topic, as the new year approaches, I asked our fellow Everthornians to share their wishes and messages for the upcoming year. Although I only received one submission, it came from an anonymous member of our community who wanted to express their gratitude for being a part of such a wonderful and compassionate group of players. They wrote:
"Happy new year, Everthorn! As we reflect on the past year and all that we've accomplished, it's important to remember all that we have to be grateful for. I am grateful to be a part of this amazing community and am looking forward to another year full of curious event and fun in Everthorn. This year was really nice and I am wishing you all the best in the coming year."
I hope that this message brings a smile to your face and fills you with joy as you ring in the new year with your friends and loved ones.
That is it for the issue, and as the year comes to a close, I, the Balladeer, would like to thank each and every one of you for your contributions to the Everthorn community. It has been a pleasure to witness the growth and development of our world, and I am excited to see what the future holds. I hope that this issue of the Everthorn journal has provided you with some insight into the past year and that it has inspired you to make the most of the coming year.
Once again, I wish you all a happy new year, and I hope that the blessings of the Everthorn Council will be upon us all. Until next time, farewell and may your adventures be ever-thorny.
